I thought it was about time that I talked about some of my favorite products of 2015. I’ve tried and tested so many products this year, some have become a constant must have in my makeup routine and others I would use once and chuck away in my drawer. (bye money)

So these are my Top 10 favourite makeup and skincare products of 2015 that didn’t get thrown away in the drawer, along with my opinion on each product and how I made the product work best for me. These are in no particular order, however number 1 is my FAVOURITE product of the year!

10. Koh Gen Do Aqua Foundation.

This foundation was my holy grail for most of the year! It is such an amazing foundation for dry skin because it is an oil based foundation. I have very fair skin with cool/pink undertones, which can be difficult to find a foundation that matches me without being too warm. This foundation literally matched me PERFECTLY! I was so happy with the colour match and the reason why it was so pink was because Koh Gen Do is a Japanese brand and most Asian skin people have cool undertones. This foundation applied so beautifully on the skin and was a medium to full coverage foundation. I applied it with the Morphe M439 brush, which is my favourite way to apply any foundation. I am disappointed that I didn’t get to use this foundation all year because my skin became oilier when it got closer to summer so this foundation just kept sliding off my face. So if you’re a dry skin gal looking for the perfect foundation that doesn’t cling to your dry patches and keeps you looking glowy, then this is the foundation for you!

9.  Make Up For Ever Step 1 Skin Equalizer in 'Hydrating'.

I have seriously never loved a primer as much as I loved this one! I believe the whole range of the Make Up For Ever Step 1 Skin Equalizers are absolutely incredible and are a game changer in the makeup industry. Mainly because the primer actually hydrates my skin but also made my makeup go on seamlessly and provided a longer staying power than most primers I’ve used before.  I’ve heard so many rave about the Mattifying and the Smoothing Primer in this range, so if you’re an oily skin gal then I would suggest you get onto them real fast! Even though the product retails for $55 AUD, I found that a little goes a long way and that it lasted me about 6-8 months. I got mine from www.mediamakeupstore.com and if you’re a fully qualified Makeup Artist then you can apply for an industry discount and receive 25% off!

8. Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Powder.

I was so hesitant to purchase this powder because even though everybody in the makeup industry raved about this product, I wasn’t all too keen on purchasing a powder that was $60 AUD. But I finally caved in and I don’t even know what powder I used before this! I love using this powder for baking my concealer and contour with. The powder just melts into the skin and leaves you with a beautiful demi matte finish. My clients and even friends were raving about this powder and loved how it made their skin look so flawless and not at all cakey. I’ve been using this product for a couple of months now and I’m not even half way through so it’s totally worth the investment!

7. Anastasia Beverly Hills Cream Contour Kit in ‘Fair’.

Move along every other cream contour on the market because Anastasia Beverly Hills have nailed it with the release of their Cream Contour kits this year! With the addition of their ‘Fair’ contour kit later in the year, this product has changed my whole contour game! The best thing about the Fair kit is that it actually has 3 cool toned contour colours that are actually cool enough for us fair skinned girls and that don’t look like mud on our face! The 3 highlight shades are also light enough and also aren’t too yellow! Claudia also made sure there was a white shimmer highlight that was light enough to show up on our skin, and yes girl you did it, it’s a beautiful highlight shade! The contour creams blend out so effortlessly on the skin and is also very pigmented.  If you’re looking to purchase a cream contour kit in 2016 then I would definitely go with ABH, even though it costs around $80 including shipping and conversion rate to Australia, it is definitely worth it! Not to mention the new packaging with the plastic case instead of the paper is so good! Claudia and Anastasia you really saved us fair girls this year!

6. The Body Shop Honey Love Matte Bronzer.

This bronzer is my HOLY GRAIL of bronzer's for fair skin! It's the only bronzer I've been able to wear without making my skin look orange. I know that girls with fair skin have such a difficult time finding a bronzer that works on their skin, so they often don't wear bronzer and only contour, but that can make you look really ghostly. However this bronzer is perfect for adding warmth to the face without looking orange because it only has red and slight yellow pigments in it. The coverage is also very buildable and blends like a dream. I have seriously converted every person I know who is fair skinned to try this bronzer and after they are officially obsessed! I've also recently tried the 'Too Faced Milk Chocolate Soleil Bronzer' and it honestly made my skin look so yellow and blended out really patchy. So now I have sworn not to try any other bronzer because why change perfection! 'The Body Shop Honey Love Matte Bronzer' is also half the price of the 'Too Faced Milk Chocolate Soleil Bronzer'.

5. Barely Cosmetics Soft and Hard Definer Sponges.

I can say that I’m officially OBSESSED with these sponges! They are an absolute GAME CHANGER in the makeup industry! I use the soft one for foundation and concealer and the hard one for cream contouring and baking.  The first time I used the soft sponge I was amazed at how it made my foundation look like actual skin but still allowed me to achieve full coverage because the sponge doesn’t absorb a lot of product. However I have noticed that after cleaning the sponge a few times it is slowly and slowly absorbing more product into the sponge, which isn’t bad it just means I have to use more foundation. I use the hard sponge to apply and blend my cream contour and let me just say that it blends seamlessly and because of the shape the sponge applies product in the exact place that you want it and allows you to control where you blend. I got these sponges from www.makeupnet.com.au and they are the only retailer in Australia that sells the sponges.  I would say that they are equally as good as the Beauty Blender, the only difference is that the Hard Definer sponge is hard so it acts like a brush for your cream contour.

4. Paulas Choice Resist BHA 9 Treatment.

This spot treatment has been my favourite skincare product of the 2015! Paulas Choice is the only skincare brand I use and they are Australian owned! They create such a wide range of products and cater for every skin type. In the past year my skin got really dry and my skin texture overall was bumpy and rough. I also kept getting pimples and really bad whiteheads on my chin, which is where this product came to the rescue! BHA is Beta Hydroxl Acid and is designed to push everything that is under the surface, to the top (like whiteheads or blemishes that haven’t come to head) I just place a small drop of this on my whitehead at night and by morning it would either be gone or ready for me to get rid of it myself. I’ll be writing a whole blog post on my skin routine and what products and treatments are best for your skin type so stay tuned for that! In the mean time, if you’re on the market for new skincare products that actually show results then check out Paulas Choice! www.paulaschoice.com.au

3. Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks.

Just about everyone and their mother bought one of the Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick’s this year. I convinced most of my friends to purchase them because I couldn’t stop raving about the formula and the colour range and now they can’t stop raving about it too. The formula is not like any other liquid lipstick, they are pigmented, long lasting, non sticky and you get at least 6 hours of wear before they start to build up, which is almost unheard of when it comes to liquid lipsticks. I could eat and drink with this lipstick on and it would still not fade away or leave a gross film on the inside of my lips. Jeffree really did the most amazing job on these liquid lipsticks and you deserve all the success in the world! My favourite shades of the year are ‘I’m Nude, Posh Spice, Celebrity Skin, Unicorn Blood and Androgyny’.  If you haven’t purchased any of these liquid lipsticks yet, then you should definitely crawl out from the rock you’ve been living under all year and do your lips and makeup game a favor! They are available for purchase from www.makeupnet.com.au here in Australia. You can also purchase them from the Jeffree Star website, but after conversion rate and shipping cost’s to Australia it is only a $3 difference to the price that MakeupNet offers.

2. Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer in ‘Fair/Neutral’.

It took me so long to get this concealer because it was sold out for such a long time. Even though I had heard it was the same as Pro Longwear Concealer by M.A.C, I wanted to try it anyway because I was sick of not having an applicator to apply Pro Longwear with. The Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer far exceeded my expectations! It’s so creamy, pigmented, long lasting and easy to apply but the only negative thing I could say is that it does not last very long and I’ve had the concealer for around 5 months and I’ve already run out, were as Pro Long Wear lasts me at least a year. However I would definitely purchase it again because I feel like I can’t live without it right now.

1. Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in ‘Pearl’.

All hail Becca for creating the worlds most beautiful highlight in the makeup industry and one that is bright enough for pale gals! I’ve only had this highlighter for 3 weeks and I already want to live inside it for the rest of my life! Therefore I think it deserves to be my number 1 product of 2015. ‘Pearl’ has the same amazing consistency as all the other Becca Shimmering Skin Perfectors, which is creamy, pigmented, long lasting and of course it just melts into the skin. ‘Pearl’ is definitely very intense though, so you can tend to go a bit overboard but I’m one of those girls who want’s my highlight to be seen from space! Unfortunately ‘Pearl’ isn’t available from Sephora Aus yet but I got mine from www.beautylish.com which is a UK website! But they have Free Shipping on orders over $50 AUS.

If you made it to the end of this post then congratulations! I did not expect this to be so long but I had a lot to say about the products I loved this year and I hope you enjoyed!

Please write down in the comments below what your favourite products of 2015 were! Thank you to everyone who reads my blog and I hope you all had an amazing 2015 and have an even better 2016!
